Mother's Day 2019: introducing 'mum dates'

It’s the middle of March. And while spring hasn’t quite sprung yet, the days are getting longer and Mother’s Day is just around the corner.

Mother’s Day is universally acknowledged to be the day that creeps up on you. One minute it’s the end of February, and the next thing you know you’re standing in the post office paying £6 for a next day delivery stamp to send a card back to mum. Speaking from experience there.

If only Niel Patrick Harris was here reminding us every time...

But with a little bit of forethought, Mother’s Day needn’t be stressful. It should be a day for appreciating the person who raised you (whoever that may be), for calling your grandparents, for sending a text to the mum of your friendship group saying thanks for always carrying ibuprofen.

And with a little bit of organisation, Mother’s Day can be the perfect opportunity to treat your mum to a wonderful day out, one on one. That’s where we come in.

This Mothering Sunday, why not take your mum out on a MumDate™?

Ok, the trademark’s not serious but the sentiment is: our dates don’t have to be romantic. They can be treated simply as special days out, the chance for you to spend some much-needed quality time with you mum.

We’ve got tonnes of parent-friendly dates. Treat your mum to a pottery workshop in Brighton, or build a clay sculpture of your family dog (yes, really) in Bristol. Share stories over some cocktails or take her out for a day of cycling through the open in air (in Bristol or Brighton).

Or why not try something a little bit different?
We don't know your mum (...obviously), but from what we know we can guess that she might not have been knife and axe throwing before (in Bristol or Brighton).

Or, if you can't actually be with your mum on Mother's Day, why not send her and her partner off on an actual date? Take the hassle out of date night for her, and organise a romantic evening or day out for her to enjoy. Giving the gift of a great date is also a sure-fire way to butter up the in laws...

This Mother's Day, instead of spending half this month's rent at Interflora, why not take your mum on a thoughtful and personal day out. And, as a way of appreciating all the mums out there we're giving 20% off any of dates if you book it before the end of this month (aka Mother's Day). Just head to www.datemakers.co.uk and use the code MUM20 at the checkout.
